Everyone pretty much wants to look young. To do this, they constantly find means to feel young inside and out. Although there seem to be hundreds of other ways to look good, people today seem to be resulting to plastic surgery. Reconstructive surgery during burns or accidents is different. Plastic surgery here means going under the knife in order to change a physical characteristic. It is a known fact that this kind of treatment is expensive, still people seem to resort to it anyway. Celebrities and the rich folks seem the avid customers of these treatment, well for one thing, they seem to be the only ones who can afford this rather delicate procedure. Rich people just happen to have the money for it while celebrities need to look good in front of the camera. And although there has been so many accounts of successful plastic surgeries, there are those unheard few that have gone bad. Let’s enumerate three of them.

Donatella Versace – she is known as the Fashion Queen of Bad Plastic Surgery after all the surgeries that she had. She has had breast implants that became too obvious after she lost some weight, she has had lip injections that made them look like wax and she has had multiple facelifts that overstretched her face. She literally looks like a caricature from some magazine and is a living example of what happens when plastic surgery goes wrong.

Hang Mioku – is a 48-year old surgery-obsessed woman from Korea who stunned the world when she injected cooking oil into her own face. Doctors refused her requests for more procedures and reported hers as a bizarre psychological case.  Somehow, she managed to find a doctor who gave her a personal kit that will allow her to inject silicone on herself. She started undergoing various treatments since she was 28 years old and her tremendous obsession left her face enlarged and her features unrecognizable.

Michael Jackson – is known world wide not only for his musical legacy but for his transformation as well. Back in the 1970s, he looked like an ordinary African-American boy. But as he became older, he had to undergo “body bleaching” due to a serious skin problem. However, it is his infamous nose that people often make jokes about. In his lifetime, it was rumored that he had ten different nose jobs.

It would be absurd to tell that I don’t know the Power Balance bracelet. Why, most people, especially those who live in a city would probably know about this controversial bracelet. For the benefit of those who are not aware about this accessory, it’s a bracelet designed with hologram on the middle that’s suppose to improve the wearer’s balance and strength. Sounds magical? Well, to tell you honestly, this bracelet had stirred up a lot of questions from most people, including me. What on earth makes this accessory so popular that it’s even sold for a very high price? If you’re rich enough to splurge almost 1500php, then you get yourself this silicon wristband. Just to clear your confusions about Power Balance, here are some of the pros and cons of the product:

Pro: Its special hologram or what they call “quantum effects” can restore your physique’s electrical balance where positive and negative ions flow freely in your body. In short, you won’t fall, stumble or trip over easily.

Con: It does not have any proof. Besides, no science have ever proven this piece of hologram (or others think of as a plain shiny sticker) is really effective.

Pro: You’ve already seen a video that showed a man standing stiff with Power Balance, while another man struggles to pull the man wearing the product.

Con: The videos you saw on the internet (e.g. Youtube) are still not proven to be true because it can be pre-taped or scripted.

Pro: You have one and you think it’s really effective. Haven’t tripped over since you wore it.

Con: People don’t usually trip over or stumble, right? These accidents really seldom happen. It’s just all in the mind.

For me, this kind of product is a big joke, making people believe that it’s actually working. There are even cheaper wristbands sold out in the market, some saying that those are the fake ones. I say, both are fake, regardless of the price. I’m not saying that those who bought this wristband are fool enough to believe but I hope you have learned your lesson already. For those who are planning to buy a Power Balance bracelet, I’m not going to ask you not to buy. It’s still your decision. What are Cures for the Common Cold?

It’s the rainy season! You know what this means? If you don’t take care of yourself, for sure you’ll be stuck at home missing classes. In college, students can’t afford to not go to class. One hour would be missing a whole lot, especially if the professor suddenly gives a surprise test. Just in case you get a bad cold, here are some cures for the common cold you should take note of.

  1. If you think that you can take going to school with a cold, you shouldn’t wait for it to go away. This is especially true with the unpredictable weather.   4. Speaking of vitamin C, taking them when you have a cold will make the recovery faster. The vitamins will help your immune system defeat the virus that’s causing hardship in your body.

Try eating bread or fruits.

It’s true. Exercising is a challenge. There are only about 4 or 5 out of 10 Filipinos, who are able to stick to their daily exercise regimen. Studies show that when ‘exercise’ is mentioned, people cringe and feel lazy to start. It’s because of overthinking – that exercise is hard and time consuming.
